Who is dwell?

[Matt Fleming] [Tim Yanney] [Matt Jacobsen] [Mark Lukey]

dwell was formed in early 1998 when Matt Fleming and Tim Yanney, along with several others, began meeting for practices at Kirkmont Presbyterian Church in Beavercreek, Ohio. They started learning contemporary worship songs and soon moved to writing original music. Soon, their talents became noticed outside their own church and they began playing shows starting with a Rock For Life festival in central Ohio. They won the Top Flight competition with their song "One Way" and received radio play early in their career. For two more years, they continued playing all over the Dayton area, changing lineups several times.

Mark first met Matt and Tim at one of their shows, noticing they had been performing without a bassist. He developed a friendship with the band members and joined in September of 2001. dwell was at this time without a regular drummer, and was scheduling several acoustic shows (where all three played guitar) as well as performances with drummer friends Dave Hamilton and Sean Davidson. Shows were few and far between, and the band often didn't make enough to cover the cost of transportation. However, in February 2002, all this changed.

The band was blessed with the appearance of Matt Jacobsen early last year. The members of dwell started bonding and new songs were written. The band has a new outlook and sound, and is quickly developing into a unique presence making its mark on the Ohio/Kentucky area. Look for dwell perfomances in your area, and expect to see many more new things from this exciting four piece modern rock group.
